OUR STORY

We’ve all stood in a shop, phone in hand, trying to find “the thing.” Something that says more than a card ever could. Something that makes the person on the other end pause, smile, maybe even tear up a little. That search — that specific, slightly stressful, deeply loving search — is where Giftporia comes from.

We’re based in Lagos, and if you know Lagos, you know we don’t do anything by halves. Birthdays here are events. Weddings anniversaries get celebrated properly. When a baby arrives, the whole family shows up. And when a new mum is finding her feet, somebody always turns up at her door with something in their hands, because that’s just how we show up for each other. We wanted a shop that matched that energy — one that took gifting as seriously as we do.

So we started sourcing. Not just grabbing whatever’s cheap and available, but actually going out and finding pieces worth giving — from local makers with real skill, to finds from other parts of the world that you won’t see everywhere else. Nothing sits on our shelves just to fill space. If we wouldn’t give it to our own family, we don’t sell it.

That’s also why our range stretches from tiny baby items to gifts for full-grown adults navigating full-grown lives. A gift for someone’s first month on earth. A gift for someone’s fortieth birthday. A “just because” gift for a friend who’s been having a hard week. We wanted one place that could handle all of it, so you’re not hunting across five different shops every time someone in your life has a moment worth marking.

And prices — we kept it real here too. Good gifts shouldn’t only be for people with deep pockets. We work hard to keep ours affordable, because nobody should have to choose between a meaningful gift and a manageable budget.

At the end of the day, we’re not really in the business of selling things. We’re in the business of that look on someone’s face when they open the box — the surprise, the “how did you know,” the little bit of connection that happens right there in that moment. That’s the whole point.
